Volunteer as an attendant. Then you can join the others who will be wandering around unable to take notes, and not being able to listen to the program. Better still volunteer for car parking duty and you can be outside of the venue, miles away from where you could even hear anything.

I remember a circuit overseer saying that if someone answered up in a part of the meeting to do with the history of the organisation and said anything that isn't consistent with current understanding that would be the same as teaching apostasy.
So if you said the famous ADV talk to advertise the Kingdom, of course they mistakenly believed that the kingdom was established in 1874, then as far as that C.O. was concerned you were out!

Nothing in life is stable as a Jehovah's Witness...
by silentbuddha inat least in hindsight it would appear so.
i remember as a small kid not making friends because ultimately they were going to die.
i never saved anything because money would be useless in the new world.

It has always been like the Orwellian 1984 world where "big brother is watching you." In the org all the brothers and sisters are watching each other and especially are the elders watching you. Not in case you are in need of assistance but in case you slip up and 3 of them can whack you about the head under the threat of disclosure of this private court.
I remember being told by a circuit servant in September 1975 that all us kids in the congregation could give all of our belongings and toys etc away to our school friends because in October of that year we would be in the new world. Good job none of us wanted to part with our goods! cause we'd have been destitute in the following month (sadly as some adults in our locality were!!)

Female JW parking "attendants"
by neat blue dog ini was shocked recently to see on social media a couple pictures of jw sisters at a convention working as parking "attendants".
i put that title in quotation marks because they still don't get the official attendant badge like the male parking attendants do, only the reflective vest.
has anybody else heard of this .

They've been doing it in the UK for years. And are more amenable than the brothers who were more likely to park you in a pothole or so close to the car next to yours that your car party had to exit via the sunroof!

Have you seen crime dramas on TV. They try to follow the money trail only to discover multiple shell corporations preventing the investigators getting to the actual dollars....
Similarly the Watchtower Organisation has a whole list of different corporations under headings like IBSA, Christian Congregation, WTB&TS, etc etc. You have to ask yourself why?
Follow the money trail.

Relative rates of mental illness
by Doug Mason ina report produced 50 years ago by a psychiatrist at a west australian mental health facility ("asylum"l reported that the mental illness rate among jws was 3 times the norm of society.
other similar studies at the time concluded the rate was much higher.. i wrote to the psychiatrist at the time, asking whether the wts attracted people who were already susceptible to mental illness or if the situation was created after the person became a jw.
he responded that they did not know.. being myopically focused on the wts at the time, but more importantly belonging to an alternative eschatological apocalyptic body at the time, i did not think more broadly.. i think that today i would like to know:.

I know that approximately two thirds of the congregation I used to attend were getting antidepressants or actively seeing a mental health professional, including a few of the elders.
I myself suffered from a period of severe clinical depression and it was the way I was ignored and treated by my "loving caring brothers" which started my journey out as my health improved.

2 Tim 3:5
by Lost in the fog inthe organisation is very quick to point the finger at churches but gets aggressive if you point out that it equally applies to them.. here's an example : “having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power.”—2 timothy 3:5.. quote : bible truth has the power to change lives.
(ephesians 4:22-24) but some of the most ungodly acts take place under the veil of religion.
a tragic example is the sexual abuse of children by the clergy.

The Fall Guy,
Except you stopped too soon in the Insight Book, the part you refer to is only (they say) about the 1st century Christian congregation; because the next section in the book goes on to describe how the Org was cleansed (after 1919) and the apostasy is only among the "professed Christians" outside.
